Climate

Say goodbye to cold and harsh winters or summers! Colombia boasts a wide variety of stable climates all year round. Thanks to our proximity to the equator, the sea, and our mountain ranges, you can find almost all the climates this world has to offer.

Within Colombia, you can experience:

  • The heat of the coastline

  • The humidity of the Amazon region

  • The temperate climate of the mountains

  • The cold climates of our páramos and snowy peaks

Take, for example, three major cities in Colombia:

  • Bogotá: At an altitude of 2,600 meters, it is mostly cool to cold, with temperatures averaging in the mid-teens (14 degrees C).

  • Medellín: (La Ciudad de La Eterna Primavera): At an altitude of 1,495 meters, it has a very pleasant climate ranging in the high teens and low twenties (average 22 degrees C).

  • Barranquilla: With an altitude of less than 20 meters and its close proximity to the coastline, it is one of the hottest places in the country, averaging temperatures of about 27 degrees C.

Whatever weather conditions you prefer, Colombia has an option suitable for you all year round.

Quality and Diversity of Food Produce

In Colombia, your grocery list can include produce from both cold and hot climates without worrying about whether they are in season or if they have traveled great distances to reach your plate. This is due once again to our vast climate diversity.

  • Hot climates near sea level offer ideal conditions for tropical foods such as coconuts, mangoes, and avocados.

  • Mid-altitude ranges provide cooler and wetter climates suitable for more delicate plants such as cacao and coffee.

  • High-altitude ranges offer colder climates for vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and berries.

There is little that can’t be grown in Colombia!

Additionally, Colombia has a culture proud of growing its own food. Here, it is frowned upon to use chemicals or pesticides, and our steep terrains make it challenging to systematize cultivating methods. This favors the small local farmer, rather than industrial, westernized factory farming often seen in America and Europe.

Although farmers' markets aren’t a common trend in Colombia, you are very likely to find a neighbor who grows some of their own food.

Social Abundance

Being part of a community and having close, trustworthy relationships are vital for cultivating strong mental and emotional health. Undoubtedly, your social life is tightly linked to your overall well-being.

Colombia has fostered a culture that is highly social, lively, friendly, and overall happy. It’s not uncommon to chat with a stranger on the street. A simple visit to your local grocery store can easily turn into a short conversation.

Social gatherings and festivals are common throughout the country. In a calendar year, there are 18 national holidays, which are often moved to Mondays to create three-day weekends. This creates a strong and vibrant social atmosphere where you are always welcomed.

Natural Diversity

Without a question, nature plays a pivotal role in your health. Having consistent proximity to nature helps reduce stress, improve mood, stabilize energy levels, and even regulate sleep.

In a country with such high diversity of climates, we also find just as much, if not more, diversity in fauna and flora. Colombia boasts a wealth of diverse ecosystems, including:

  • Tropical rainforests: Like the Amazon Rainforest (the most diverse ecosystem in the world).

  • Páramos: Such as El Páramo de Sumapaz.

  • Savannas: Like Los Llanos Orientales.

  • Deserts: Such as El Desierto de La Guajira.

  • Coastlines: Like the Caribbean coast and the Pacific coast.

Each ecosystem offers different species of animals and plants, each with its unique role in the ecosystem. They serve as opportunities for self-growth, exploration, and relaxation.

Conclusion:

In this beautiful and diverse country, you can find the climate you favor the most, easily find fresh- chemical free produce, enjoy a vibrant social life, and visit diverse natural landscapes for you to enjoy. All of these leave you with a positive imprint in your health and well-being.

We are a huge advocates in cultivating an environment that promotes positive life habits. We couldnt imagine a better environment to helps us do this other than beautiful Colombia.
